Thousands participate in funeral of slain militant in Awantipora | KNO

Awantipora, October 18 (KNO) : Showkat was killed in a brief gunfight with the government forces at Dougam Kakapora area of the Pulwama district during Wednesday night. Reports reaching (KNO) that despite restrictions in entry and exit points of Padgampora village, large number of people took part in the funeral prayers of Showkat.

Eye witnesses told (KNO) that a gun salute was also give to slain militant, by some unknown militants, who appeared during his funeral prayers. Showkat recently (before some 08 days) joined militant outfit "Tehreeq Ul Mujahideen", who was pursuing B.Pharmacy in Kashmir university before joining the said outfit.

He was also a part of the militants who in afternoon hurled grenade upon Police party at Pattan in which one DySP and one policeman got injured and one militant from Tral was captured alive by joint team of government forces. Meanwhile, complete shutdown is being observed in the area.(KNO)
